Surf, Sun & love | Melbourne wedding & portrait photography

I’ve been looking forward to sharing Georgie & Paul’s fun & sweet shoot with you, and what better time than the eve before their big day!
Its always a little bit extra exciting to be photographing close friends, and when planning this shoot, it didn’t take much convincing to suggest to Paul (the usually camera shy groom) that we incorporate a surf into they’re engagement shoot.  So we made an afternoon of it, heading down to Torquay, Michael (Hyggelig husband) and Paul headed out to the water, while Georgie (bride) & I watched from the shore. How amazing is Paul’s board! Handcrafted by himself, the turtle is made of Paua shell from New Zealand. After a bite to eat at our fav Torquay local Cafe Moby, & as the sun hit that sweet spot I caught a few moments between the two of them…

“the only creatures that are evolved enough to convey pure love are dogs and infants” | Melbourne baby & family photographer

“The only creatures that are evolved enough to convey pure love are dogs and infants.” Johnny Depp

Its no secret that Im a Johnny Depp fan to those who know me…. But regardless of any bias, I love this quote.
And well one look at Manda’s little family it rings true. Not to mention Lola is loved by so many already she has the best wardrobe & book collection!

So blessed to be asked to record this baby’s birth story, and a little bittersweet that its almost come full circle.

So the hard task is upon me to choose some favourite images to share with you of a little girl 7 days old, who not only did I watch & photograph her growth in utero.. twice, actually three times, well maybe four if you include the babyshower. I was also there to support Manda and photograph little Lola’s amazing arrival 5weeks ago.

Big thankyou to Grandma or “Mee Ma” as she will be affectionately know as, nothing sweeter than a 3 generation photograph right?

So here is a small selection, hope it warms your heart like it does mine x

Lola’s Birth Day | Melbourne Birth Photography

A photographer herself, Mumma Manda & I planned straight away the idea of capturing her “birth story” from begining to end..
Im so excited to say we did! If you follow the blog you will have already seen her 3 maternity sessions & a baby shower later.

Today’s post is all about baby’s birth day.

Manda didn’t know what she was having, but it certainly looked like baby was sweetly strong willed, by the overdue and extended labor :)
Manda’s Mum & I made up her support tem, and we spent well over 24hours in that birthing suite at the Womens hospital, helping Manda at every turn during the labor process… But regardless of how long it took, what an amazing result, 1 beautiful precious little girl… Lola James Ford… I know I wont forget it in a hurry..

So please enjoy this part of Manda & now Lola’s birth story…

Meanwhile we took the opportunity recently to capture the family of 3, on a beautiful spring day at one of my favourite Avondale Heights locations for their engagement shoot. How cute is their little guy?

Puppy, love & a sunset | Melbourne wedding & engagement photographer

When I met Alex & Nathan and they told me how Nathan proposed… with a puppy! Myself lover of all things furry knew we had to include Fletcher pup in their engagement shoot. It was a gorgeous Sunday afternoon treat in Port Melbourne, a week into spring with already perfect weather including a sensational sunset!

Precious new baby girl | Melbourne baby & family photographer

A perfect Sunday afternoon shower | Melbourne Photography

The next instalment of Manda’s baby story

2nd day of Spring & not your usual kind of Melbourne shower, this one was theme’d “baby”
Little Awesome wasn’t faraway, Mama Manda still didnt know if baby was “blue” or “pink” ..
Guest’s funked up some onsies, ate, drank, laughed & were bathed in sunshine coming through this amazing warehouse location…
Manda’s thankyou gift to everyone was a divine homemade lime mojito bath soak… Such a perfect afternoon to start the welcoming Little Awesome to arrive.

PS  Im putting in a request to the CFO that Hyggelig Photography has a studio not unlike this one in the future, what do you think?  :)
