As a lifestyle photographer, I love capturing you and your family in a documentary style – letting your normal interactions and comfortable environment set the pace. You may have heard the term “lifestyle photography” before, and not known what it meant, but in reality it is simply you and yours just as you are. There is a little bit of direction, but mostly it is about celebrating your family in your natural surroundings, doing something as normal as the evening routine (with a few posed portraits for grandma’s wall thrown in).
This session was all about that, celebrating beautiful little Olive and her family. Olive was 8 months old at her shoot – and it was time to get her smiling face back in front of our lens. You may have seen her mum’s maternity photos and her newborn images on our blog, but now it was time to let her personality shine. This session was as much a lifestyle portrait session as any I’ve done – it was January, a warm Australian summer afternoon, perfect light in a quintessential Aussie backyard, replete with Hills Hoist with nappies hanging on the line! Throw in giggles and cuddles with mum and dad, an outdoor bath, dinner and bedtime stories, and this is the family lifestyle shoot I love to capture.
What I love about a family lifestyle portrait shoot, is they’re all different and all tailored around you and your family and what makes you special. If you have a favourite place and you’d love to have your family’s everyday documented please get in touch. It doesn’t have to be your home, just any space that you like to be. I’d love to work with you and your little ones to produce a photographic documentary that you will all treasure for years to come – long after the nappies have been taken off the Hills Hoist!
