Hyggelig Photography isn’t just about taking family photos. It’s about truly seeing, understanding and embracing people as they are. As a neurodivergent photographer and parent to an ND child, I know firsthand how important it is to feel safe, comfortable, and free just to be. No stiff poses, no overwhelming lights, no pressure. Just honest, heartfelt moments captured in a way that feels right for you.
How does the Danish word of HYGGE connect with what I do? Well, I’m a Danish-born Aussie, and it was only natural that when naming my business, I used the word with no direct translation but rather a feeling. Think of a contented sigh and smile, and that’s what I hope for when I deliver your gallery.

This approach isn’t just for families, it’s how I photograph everything: weddings, elopements, small businesses and branding sessions. I work hands-off, unposed way, focused on recording the vibe rather than forcing perfection. That’s why Hyggelig Photography exists, rooted in comfort, authenticity and ease. Long before I knew the words for it, I knew traditional photography setups didn’t feel right. They didn’t feel right for my daughter either. It turns out that’s what many neurodivergent people need too, an approach that prioritises their experience as much as the final image.
I want your session to feel like a warm hug, not a performance. When you see your gallery, I want you to recognise yourself, the laughter, the love, the realness. The you-est you. That’s where the magic is.

Photography became my language. A way to capture those tiny, monumental moments and hold onto them. The ones others might overlook? That’s where the gold is. It’s never about ticking boxes, it’s about embracing the beautifully unfiltered stuff that really means something. That personal journey led to the creation of Hyggelig Photography.
The road to motherhood wasn’t a smooth one for me, more like a decade-long climb up a muddy mountain in the rain. There was loss, waiting, and trying again. Photography became part of my healing. Soaking up all the tiny humans and recording each moment was my way of celebrating the life that finally made it here.
And yet, I was so used to being behind the camera, I avoided being in front of it. Always the documenter, never the documented. But leading into my first Mother’s Day, it hit me, I’m part of the story too. Creating the artwork means being the artwork.
Now, every Mother’s Day, it’s a tradition. I pick a location, hand the camera to my husband and direct him from the other side. We make memories together, and I do the same for him on Father’s Day. Because we deserve to be in the frame, too.

And the truth is, these moments move quickly. Kids grow, their voices shift, and their interests explode in new directions. We spend so much time recording their lives, but where are we in that story? We deserve to exist in those photos, not just as creators of memories, but as participants.
When I photograph families, I keep it real and relaxed. I want you to feel comfortable enough to just be. That’s when the good stuff happens. No posing, no pressure, just you, your people, and the way you connect.
As a candid family photographer, I believe core memories live in the wild stuff. The way your kid reaches for your hand because it’s their anchor. The way they collapse into your lap like it’s their safe place. It’s the chaos, the cuddles, the mid-laugh moments. That’s what’s worth remembering. That’s the artwork you’ll return to and feel again.
I’ve always encouraged families to share all the info with me. It helps me meet everyone where they’re at and roll with whatever the day brings. That flexibility is key, especially for ND kids. I’m also working on social stories to help prep the little ones who might feel unsure. The goal is to make the whole experience feel easy and safe.

So here’s the real message: Step into the frame. Be the artwork. Not just for your kids to look back on, but for yourself. You belong in your memories too. Whether it’s wild hair and muddy toes, or something big and beautiful, be present. Be seen. Your presence in those moments is just as important as anyone else’s.
Ready to trust me with your NOW moments? Whether your kid’s rocking the same rainbow pants for the third week running, or you just want to celebrate this season of life, I’ve got you. I’ll chat with them about their current hyperfixation and make them feel safe. Safe enough to forget there’s even a camera.
Whether it’s for your family, headshots or some content for your business, I keep pricing simple. Your minimum spend is $250, and you’ll always walk away with something real from our time together.
